Predictable: foretell on the basis of observation, experience or scientific reason
When someone says ‘oh, they are so predictable’, it’s usually meant in a negative manner. It usually means someone with no spontaneity, or a person who is content with the status quo., boring, not willing to step out of the box into something new or exciting.
Prov. 24:21 states the following:
“My son, (reverently) fear the Lord and the king and do not associate with those who are given to change.”
Unpredictable people can keep us off balance. We never know from one moment to the next how they are going to act. Some people of this nature can be inconsistent, not dependable, wishy washy, and not always true to their word.
However, being predictable can be someone you can trust, have confidence in, someone who is always the same, what you see is what you get. This type of person is consistent and steady, and true to their word. Oh, that there were more people like that.
A friend of mine thinks she is boring, but in reality, she is very much the opposite; I know she is dependable and true to her word; I know when I tell her things in confidence she keeps it close to her chest.
Being predictable is a Christ like characteristic as the following Scripture states:
“For I am the Lord, I do not change;–“ (Malachi 3:6)
“Jesus Christ (the Messiah) is (always) the same yesterday, today, (yes) and forever (to the ages).” (Heb. 13:8)
We can trust our God. We will never have to be concerned that His mood fluctuates with us when we fail Him. We can trust when He says He is faithful to us, and will never leave us or forsake us. We can bank on His Word that He loves us and His love He will never remove.
God has made us many promises about who He is and His character. We can rest in Him, knowing He is completely trustworthy.
